Unfortunately, we all have problems. No one goes through life unscathed. Mistakes you can't undo, broken relationship's, financial worries, misfortune, sadness, sickness, pain, crisis, it happens to us all.

But what happens when problems come rolling in like a flood? One thing after another, by the hour, by the day, sometimes ten times or more? The car breaks down, the furnace goes out, someone you love dies, a storm destroys some of your property, your phone goes out, etc, within days. And as the weeks go on, it continues again and again.

When problems pile up, the pressure can take you down.

Sure you want to scream and curse, but that won't do you any good - that won't make it go away.

So what do we do? Read on to find out what to do when problems come in like a flood.

The Pile Up Policy

Once that cycle of problems start, it's very difficult to stop. You see, juggling a dozen or so problems that are out of your control will stress you out, drain your energy, and make you miserable. Then all you do is think about them more and more, and those negative thoughts will keep piling-up and bombard you.

In addition, dwelling on negative occurrence's can amplify their impact and make it more challenging to cope with current and future problems.

The Solution

Okay, there is no easy solution. That I can assure you. But one thing I do know, if you don't change your thoughts, you're assured doom and gloom.

Surely we could just lie there in our self-pity, call all our friends and have a pity-party, but how is that going to get you out of the pit you're in? It's not. All that will do is take you down deeper into a depressed state, and keep the problems raging.

Shift Your Mindset

You need to shift your mindset to a positive perspective, no matter what your dealing with.

Challenge Your Negative Thoughts: When you catch yourself thinking negatively, pause and challenge their accuracy. Ask yourself if that thought is based on facts or assumptions. Replace that negative thought with a more positive and realistic thought.

Pay attention to recurring negative thoughts and consider the situations or triggers that bring them on.

Focus on Solutions: When facing challenges, shift your focus from the problem to finding solutions.

Don't Procrastinate: Don't sit there thinking about the problem or it will escalate into a crisis. Tackle the issues at hand and address them promptly, when they are still manageable.

Don't Place Blame: When problems come, we like to blame it on something or someone else. Instead of assigning blame, focus on understanding the situation and finding solutions.

Blame can hinderer problem-solving. Taking responsibility, even if you're not at fault. This allows for a more constructive approach to resolving the issue and preventing future occurrences.

Limit Negative Inputs: Limit exposure to news, social media, and toxic relationships. Spend time with people who are supportive, optimistic, and encouraging.

Practice Self-Awareness: Reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to understand what triggers those negative patterns.

Coping Strategies: Don't blow things out of proportion by going over them time and again in your mind. Accept that bad feelings are unavoidable, and think of ways to make yourself feel better.

Practice Positive Self-Talk: Try phrases like: "I am capable," "I am strong," "I can handle this," "I am proud of myself for trying," "I forgive myself for mistakes," “This is a difficult time, but this will pass,” or “I can get through this because I am in control of my emotions.” Write down affirmations and repeat them regularly.

Note:

Don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to anyone else. Be gentle and encouraging with yourself. If a negative thought enters your mind, evaluate it rationally and respond with affirmations of what is good about you.

Think about things you're thankful for in your life.

Check Yourself: Periodically during the day, stop and evaluate what you're thinking. If you find that your thoughts are mainly negative, try to find a way to put a positive spin on them.

Be Open To Humor: Give yourself permission to smile or laugh, especially during difficult times. Seek humor in everyday happenings. When you can laugh at life, you feel less stressed.

Pray: Prayer is powerful in it's workings. Prayer brings about positive changes, both internally for the one praying and externally in their circumstances. Prayer works wonders for stress relief, coping with difficult emotions, and promoting a positive mindset.

Pray also provides comfort, hope, and purpose, that helps us cope with challenging situations. It helps foster a more optimistic outlook on life. So let you're prayer be known to God, and let Him intercede for you in your horrific times.

Conclusion:

The strategies above won't work instantly, but if you will take a step and practice daily, those problems that have stymated you, will gradually decrease and eventually subside.
